A Brief Overview of What's Out There
god_of_inlya
(Author's Note: Just for clarification, this is told from the view of a character of mine who lives in the universe they are describing.)

Hello all, this is Nameless. I am a human blogger who happened to stumble upon somewthing bigger than us all, something that will change the way you look at everything.

(I wish I could tell you my real name, where I live, and all the other things that make a person a person on the Internet, no matter how fake, but I can't. If I do, then the factions out there who want this to be kept quiet might find me.)

If you are to understand what I have collected via my sources (all must be as nameless as I to protect their identities, and because some of this information is biographical). What is listed below is the relevant bit of a notebook I found. It tells of the species and races found on both Earth and Inlya. Yes, fellow humans, this is the first proof you will ever have toward the conclusion that we are not alone. As far as I could tell, it is told straight from the viewpoint of my source, so do keep that in mind.

EARTH: A relatively tame planet, compared to many others. They have a lot of technology for the youngness of the species here. Species other than humans tend to stay low. Little natural magic, so those who do have it (humans included) keep it quiet. Earth has one moon. Continents: North America, South America, Asia, Europe, Africa, Australia, and Antarctica. Population Total: 6.4 billion

Humans: One of Earth’s native races and, by far, the dominant one. Most of the population is without magical abilities of any sort, one of their more unusual features. They are technologically advanced, having furthered their research into machinery and medicine. Many seem to have an uncanny interest in immortality. They are not unlike most others in their acts of war and such. As far as I have seen, they seem to be extremely religious as a whole, with many dominating religions. This leads to my other observation on their near non-existent ability to agree on most things, which could explain the religions, but they tend to band together anyways, especially when frightened or panicked. Their constantly curious nature allows them to unravel some of the greater mysteries, but also brings them closer and closer to stumbling upon ones that should not be discovered.
All in all, one of my favorites to observe.
Estimated Maximum Lifespan: 120 years

Shapeshifters: The other of Earth’s native races. They are definitely the minority, their population topping around seven hundred million at most. And they are a most peculiar species. They have one specific base persona that is set as a child and they revert back to it, but other than that they can take on the shape of any animal or person they meet, and the more experienced ones can even combine features into unique personas.
But their abilities come at a price I am told. Because of their inconsistency with a form as children, it forces their parents to keep them away from public eye until they can control their powers, which is usually around ten or eleven years of age. This in itself makes it hard to have a shapeshifting child but that is only a problem for the parent. The children have problems of their own. Ninety percent of the population has mental or hormonal problems that come from their natural development. Mostly, they are mild and can be dealt with, but sometimes it is more severe. In such cases, they have to be either kept forever out of the public knowledge for fear of exposure, or put out of their misery by a special squad meant for such things.
Estimated Maximum Lifespan: 230 years

INLYA: A planet where many intelligent races and species live in very tense unity (and they frequently break out into small wars). There is very little of what most would consider ‘technology’ here. Abundant magic helps the Inylans live (a lot) longer, and drastically reduces the birth rate. This planet is located in a parallel dimension, directly connected to Earth. Inlya has one moon. Continents: Mor’Salla, Ark, Consenia, Marxsos, and Asergia. Population Total: 2.9 billion

Berserker Elves: First thing’s first: berserker elves are not actually elves. They were mislabeled a long time ago, and no one has bothered to fix it (like the panda is not actually a bear, but it’s still called a panda bear). Many think they are either a hybrid of elves and the earliest metal fae or that they are some weird mutant dwarf, but no one is quite sure. Berserker elves are named as such for the haze that overcomes them in moments of extreme emotional distress. It can be seen in their eyes, which will bleed red. Their mental state will switch over to a more primal and aggressive side and their muscles will be released to their full potential, which can cause a lot of problems with tearing and such if used too long (so they practice a lot of emotional control).
Their bone structure is three times denser than a human being’s, making them very, very heavy for their size (‘cause the muscles also have to support this heavier weight). All berserker elves are pretty short. There has been no pure blooded berserker elf in recorded history over 6’0. Sadly, they are beginning to die out due to too many congenital heart defects appearing. They are encouraging hybridization, with GEM elves and wood elves mostly, to try and introduce healthier traits (good thing they breed quickly). They are extremely weak in magic.
Estimated Maximum Lifespan: 1940 years

Centaurs: An odd race of people. They have an upper half that resembles an elf’s (Though they’re probably a lot hairier) but from their lower torso stems the body of a horse, the torso connecting where the head and neck would be. Powerful and proud, they are a nomadic people, moving whenever they feel like it, though they seem to always return to particular places. They are warriors by nature and get along well with nagas because of their shared spirit. The battlefield is where they think they belong. The men handle more of the brute force weapons, double handed swords being their favorite. The females deal more with archery. They have not had a centaur that can channel magic in over four generations. They are one of the few that cannot interbreed with other species.
Estimated Maximum Lifespan: 2001 years

Deremons: They have the largest population on Inlya. They use the terms demon and chimera as a way of distinguishing male and female. Again, more of a category than an actual species since there are too many types to classify though they seem to share the commonality of horns. The term ‘Deremon’ comes from ‘Deremontella’, which was one of the ruling clans in the first days of Inlya, making the descendents of the Deremontella bloodline one of the oldest in the world. Many are from this bloodline via marriage or relation, but many others are usually grouped there because they are not known to be anything else. The potpourri group. They also have the most varied magics since they are the most diverse. If you want to find some odd magic, look here. Some think that incubi and succubi came from the deremons. They are all over the world, but have the largest populations on eastern Marxsos and western Ark.
Estimated Maximum Lifespan: Varies

Elves: They have the second largest population on Inlya. There are many races of elves and each has rather unique characteristics, though on the whole they remain the same. Their form of government is unique to them as well (at least on Inlya it seems) because they are a democracy rather than a monarchy, theocracy, autocratic, or a government left up to the individual. Deluse is their dominant language, though they have several others that color the elfin nations.

Drow- They have a nasty reputation for being headhunters, but not all are bad. Drow are classified by their black skin and white or gray hair. Men are generally huge and women are generally not far behind. They are the nomadic group and once they find a mate, they stay together for life. They favor earth magic and, sometimes, have been known to carry family lines that have shadow-like magic of unknown origins. They are the only ones who don’t follow the formal system of government that most elves uphold, leaving laws up to small groups and justice up to the individual. The other elves do not care for their existence and sometimes go out of their way to make sure that the drow do not grow too large in population.
Estimated Maximum Lifespan: 2,853 years

GEM Elves- GEM stands for ‘Geo Earth Movers’. It’s a title rather than a race name. They are called geo elves or GEM elves for short because they all favor the mineral part of earth magic, dealing with gems, rocks, and other stubborn substances. They tend to live nearest to the berserker elves in the country of Bal and have good relations with them. They have slightly shorter, pointed ears and their genetics favor more squared features. Slightly denser bone structure.
Estimated Maximum Lifespan: 2,782 years

Gray Elves- These guys are what humans would probably know as the ‘typical elf’ (except that they’re... I dunno... gray?). Both men and women are tall and, indeed, they have an ashen skin tone. Angular features are very common and so is a fragile bone structure. They’ve gotten the nickname of ‘High Elves’ because they are known to be a bit egotistical or snooty, having dominated the government for quite a long time. They favor air and earth magic equally. These elves are the least common.
Estimated Maximum Lifespan: 2,845 years

Wood Elves- The most common race of elf and believed to be the first, the other kinds having come off from them. They are almost indistinguishable from humans except for their long, pointed ears and slightly rounder features overall. They tend to range on the taller side of the human usually. They favor the plant side of earth magic.
Estimated Maximum Lifespan: 2,860 years

Fairies: Also called Fae. Believe it or not, they are not five inches tall. They are full sized people (if a bit on the short side). The term ‘Fairy’ encompasses a large group of people who have a strong aversion to iron and iron hybrids. A couple races of fairy do not have wings such as changelings, but most do. These wings can be ornamental or functional, but they all are delicate, often translucent, and rather large. They are more child-like by nature and almost all are a slave to their whims and desires. Extremely magical. Any person with some fairy blood will find that they will become more and more like their fairy parent as the fairy blood converts all their DNA to that of the fairy parent (that doesn’t sound like a pretty process). They are mostly found on the border between Marxsos and Consenia, their biggest city being up in the Thulian Mountains.
Estimated Maximum Lifespan: 2,680

Incubi/Succubi: Both are of the same species, Incubus referring to males and Succubus referring to females. They are one of the strangest species on Inlya and one of the most dangerous. Both incubi and succubi, when mature (and you said they mature quickly), feed off of the life-forces of those that they engage in intimate activities with, ranging from touching and kissing to those more sexual in nature. Both are born to be sexy--the women robust and the men well built--and they have charm magic to help them along.
All incubi and succubi are pansexual, though they may have a slight preference for one particular bent. They can tell a person’s sexuality by a very distinct smell they give off. Despite being creatures of lust, they actually have a very hard time getting pregnant or getting others pregnant, even among their own kind (that actually makes sense, considering how much they have to sleep around). Their government is almost nonexistent since most incubi and succubi are natural wanderers.
A note: They have a built in survival mechanism. The longer they go without food, the more intense their charm magic gets (and the more draining) and the less control they have over their own actions. The longest either can go without food varies, but they usually die at around three and a half months without life-force (they eat ‘normal’ food to stave it off for that long since their bodies can also process and use that as energy).
Estimated Maximum Lifespan: 2,020 years

Milurians:  These are cousins of fairies. They were named after Miluri, the first Milurian in recorded history. They are, perhaps, the most human-like. They have few physical features that really set them apart from humans, save for that their eyes are always a certain kind of silver-gray that has reflective qualities. They have a naturally present metal interwoven in their muscles and bones, making them much less breakable, and a lot heavier. It also has an impact on their blood color, which is a silvery-red. They do not have that aversion to iron like their cousins. They have the smallest population on Inlya, having only emerged about nine thousand years ago as a fully defined race. Many think they are a hybrid of sorts because of this.
Estimated Maximum Lifespan: 2,005 years

Nagas: They have the third largest population on Inlya. There are two types of Nagas, both of them dealing with the four main types of elemental magic of fire, water, earth, and air. However, they are one of the weakest races in magic terms, using magic as a last resort. They make up for it in brute strength, toughness, and fighting spirit.

Mancasta Nagas: Mancasta means ‘The Proud’ in Khastre, the ancient nagian language. These are the more common type of naga. They tend to stick to the more temperate regions of Mor’Salla, the continent of which, for several thousand years, they had sole control. However, they lost a great battle with the elves and the weres and had to give up half of their control. Their scales can come in a variety of colors, but usually are just a solid color. Mottled mixes are rather uncommon, but definitely not unheard of. Except for their snake halves, they look rather like any human or elf. Their system of government is a general monarchy (and you know the crowned prince) but they appoint governors to the city-states so that they can more easily deal with problems and spread messages quicker. They used to speak, nationally, about seven different languages, but one of the conditions of their defeat in the Battle of Ferris was that they had to start speaking, mainly, Deluse (Oh the elves were rather cruel, weren’t they?). Deluse is now their dominant language, all other languages in the severe minority.
Estimated Maximum Lifespan: 2,883 years

Sempuria Nagas: Sempuria means ‘Of The Wild Land’ in Khastre, the ancient nagian language. These nagas are distinguished quite easily from the Mancasta nagas. On Mancasta nagas, the scales stop around the hips. On the Sempuria nagas, they go up the back all the way to the nape of the neck and spread out to the shoulders. They also have scale patterns instead of just colors, many of the patterns unique to them and them alone. Their hair also grows in the colors of their scales. They are a mostly nomadic people, seeming to stick to the warmer regions around Mor’Salla. They are a tribal system, the clans each making their own set of rules and laws. Most actually don’t speak the language the Mancasta nagas have adopted, Deluse, (which resembles English... a lot), but some are beginning to speak it for the sake of trade. Among these nagas, Fureshian is the number one language, though many tribes and clans carry altered versions of the language or languages all of their own. If the Sempuria nagas enter Mancasta cities, they must speak Deluse when dealing with merchants and the like. Also, they must don clothes, since Sempuria nagas, except for warriors and their armor, refuse to wear clothing, seeing it as an unnecessary confinement.
Estimated Maximum Lifespan: 2,782 years

Panterians: Imagine a human but put sleek black fur on them, replace their hands and feet with paws, add a tail, and put on an appropriately sized panther head and you have a Panterian. They are the only native species to Asergia, the island continent. Most people think they died out a long time ago, but the few who manage to escape their clutches can tell you they are anything but. They follow a theocracy with priests being the highest power. I can tell you they do a lot of ritual sacrifice, sometimes of their own kind and anyone unlucky enough to land on their shores. Can be a very dangerous species. Bad reputation amongst those in the know.
Estimated Maximum Lifespan: 1,650 years

Vampires: (Sorry all, the handwriting on this entry was particularly horrid and I'm still deciphering it. I will update as soon as possible.)

Weres: Yet another category because it is not just werewolves that live on Inlya, though they are the most numerous. Defined by their shifting ability, they generally follow the moon cycles, some more than others. All feel the strong urge to change on the full moon though and only the older ones can resist it. Despite what they might shift into, they are generally pack creatures, sticking with their own kind and/or clan. Most weres live on Ark traveling frequently near the Camorion mountain range where Solosta Mountain is located, though a few types like to roam the open lands of Mor’Salla.
Werewolves and vampires are currently having territorial issues.
